Good morning Franklin families,
And that’s a wrap! With the wonderful 8th Grade Moving Up and High School Graduation ceremonies in our rear view windows, school’s out for summer!
There are just a few reminders in this final newsletter of the year. Most importantly, thank you for choosing Franklin and for collaborating for a great year. We are proud to have earned the EL Education full credential this year and we look forward to continued improvement in pursuit of our shared mission. We can’t do it without the support and involvement of our families. Thank you!
If you haven’t had the chance yet, please remember to complete our very short survey. We will review the results with our School Improvement Team and Board of Directors and use the data to help us identify areas for deeper investigation: Parent Feedback Survey
Have a wonderful summer! Families of our graduated seniors, we will miss you! To the rest of you, we look forward to seeing you in August, after a much-needed summer slow down.

Final Report Cards and EOG/EOC Scores
This Monday and Tuesday are teacher work days. Final report cards will be available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal after all grades are finalized. Please be patient – teachers have till the end of the day Tuesday to complete grades and then it takes a little time to review for any errors or missing information. We hope to have final report cards published by the end of this week.
Individual student scores will also be published in the Parent Portal. Worth noting – this year we encouraged students to re-test if they fell just short of a “proficient” score. Nearly half (47.8%) of the students who took the test again raised their scores to the proficient level, and a notable number (17%) raised their score to the “college and career ready” level. We hope more students will accept the invitation to re-test next year! As you look at your student’s scores, keep this in mind. The test scores give us one measure of student performance. It matters – this is a measure of whether students have mastered the content of their grade level. But it isn’t a perfect measure and it doesn’t measure all learning. The tests are important and we will continue working to build a culture where students want to re-test and want to do their best, but we will also continue to provide learning opportunities that may not be measured by a standardized test.
Summer School – Credit Recovery
We will offer 4 weeks of summer credit recovery for high school students who did not earn a passing grade in one or more of their core classes. We have sent notices and a registration form to parents whose students were at risk.
Students who do not make up necessary credits (especially in English or math) will need to repeat those courses next year. This will take students off the 4 year path to graduation. If you have a high school student who failed a core class, please reach out ASAP to register them for our credit recovery program! Credit recovery will begin Monday, June 15.
And that’s all! Stay tuned for a few newsletters over the summer. We hope to see many of you for the rummage sale on July 11 and for the Parent Crew Meet Up on July 19. Have a great summer.
