Good morning Franklin families,
There are just two weeks left in our school year! The last two weeks are always a rush of testing, celebrations, and just trying to keep everything from spiraling too far out of control. The mix of stress and excitement is a lot for everyone. We still have important work to do before school is over. You can help keep things on track.
- Keep home schedules as normal as possible. Help students get good sleep, healthy meals, and limited screen time.
- Remind your students of your expectations for their behavior in school. Keep it simple – be kind, be respectful, and be on time for classes.
- Check in with your student. Stress levels can get high with exams and final projects. That’s generally ok – we all have to learn to live with deadlines and high expectations. Do your best to provide healthy outlets.
State end of year exams start on Wednesday. The tests don’t determine if students are smart, kind, or will make the world a better place. But the tests do matter. They are one way of measuring student progress and learning, and student performance matters for them and for our school overall. We don’t spend lots of time “teaching to the test”, but teachers and students have been working hard all year preparing for these tests. Encourage your students to do their best. Remind them that they’ve been learning all year.
Students need to be on time on the day of their tests. Students who arrive after testing has started cannot take the test that day and will be sent home.
Here’s the testing schedule:
- Wed, May 27: Grades 5 – 8 Math and Math 1
- Thurs, May 28: Math 3 (11th grade students who are not in Math 3 have a remote day Thursday)
- Fri, May 29: Grades 5 – 8 Reading & Eng 2
- Mon, June 1: Grades 5 and 8 Science and Biology
- Tues, June 2 and Wed June 3 – Test Make Up Days
This year, we will offer the opportunity for students who score below a level 3 to re-take the tests on our test make up dates. Students often improve their scores with a re-test.
As we close out this school year, we want to hear your feedback! We are using a very simple survey to explore your experience with our school. This survey will help us identify areas of strength and areas for further development and exploration. It’s a short survey and we appreciate your participation! We will review results with our School Improvement Team and Board of Directors as we plan for next year and beyond: Parent Feedback Survey
As always, thank you for choosing Franklin and for partnering with us to prepare students for the futures they create. It’s been a good year!

Reminders
We Have a Few Spots for 5th Grade!
Do you know a wonderful family with a rising 5th grader? We have a few spots available for the 2026-2027 school year. Filling these spots helps us offset the terrible state budget situation. We also love bringing students in for our 5th grade year – our team does a terrific job of onboarding students and helping them learn what it means to be an FSI Bolt. Help us serve as many students as we can! We can also accept a few more students for 11th and 12th grade. This can be a great opportunity for students who are looking for more support as they begin planning for college. With a full-time College & Career Counselor and support through Crew and our teachers, our students have access to strong post-secondary support. We are full with wait lists for all other grades at this time.
